Robert is a pioneer in the field of executive coaching, an international keynote speaker, workshop leader, and author. He is also the originator of “RealTime Speaking”— a unique style of public speaking and communicating based on the authenticity, integrity, and transparency of the speaker.

Robert is well-known for his distinctive brand of work. He does not depend on theoretical templates or mechanical models; instead, he relies on “the three strands of wisdom — a clear mind, an open heart, and present-centered attention.” Robert uses these and the tools of listening, intuition, and spontaneity to catalyze uncommon solutions for his clients. Robert teaches his clients how to access their own deep resources of intuitive wisdom to generate profoundly simple solutions to complex problems.

Robert’s professional career began in 1973, when he joined an international educational foundation, which grew to encompass 400 centers in 52 countries. Robert held a number of management roles; as vice president he managed the 100-acre headquarter facility with 30 departments and a staff of 300. He also produced more than 300 workshops and retreats in the United States, Europe, Scandinavia, and India, attended by tens of thousands of people.

Since 1985, Robert has been writing, lecturing, leading meditative inquiry events throughout the US, and offering executive coaching, strategic consulting, and retreat design services in the areas of self-awareness, leadership, communication, team synergy, and values.

In 1986, Robert originated his signature method of working with individuals and groups, called meditative inquiry. In 1991, he founded the Hamsa Institute for Enlightened Leadership, and in 1996 Robert began a two-year stint as a featured columnist in The New Leaders, a subscriber-based executive newsletter describing emerging trends and innovative practices in leadership and management. In working with more than 20 organizations, leading more than 350 meditative inquiry events, and maintaining a personal mentoring practice, Robert has logged thousands of coaching interactions with individuals from all walks of life — creatives, professionals, entrepreneurs, academics, and corporate managers and executives - inspiring and assisting them to first clarify and then actualize their personal and professional vision, values, and goals.

Robert is a frequent guest on radio programs, a popular speaker at association meetings and colleges, and a keynote speaker at international conferences. His resume of speaking engagements includes State of the World Forum, American Management Association, International Coach Federation, Institute of Noetic Sciences, International Conference on Enlightenment, Inner Directions Conference, Living Now Symposia, Praxis Conference, Presidio Dialogues, Spirit at Work, SLaM Network, JFK University School of Management, San Francisco State University, California Institute of Integral Studies, and National Association of Drama Therapists.

He has published five books, including Igniting the Soul at Work: A Mandate for Mystics, and more than 250 articles; written original essays for two anthologies; wrote and produced a video called Brilliant Business: A Road Map for the 21st Century; and was interviewed for The Awakening West, a collection of conversations with contemporary Western spiritual teachers.
